Because no one can show concern for another human being without having ulterior motives?
I have friends with lupus, it is a terrible disease and I wish you the best of luck in maintaining yourself. However, people can’t tell your “autoimmune system not to attack itself” because that is incredibly silly and sarcastic. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, on the other hand, is well within many people’s control and therefore people will bring it to their friends’ attentions if they feel they should be concerned, not because they feel the need to police you.
And by all means, bring your concerns about a person’s unhealthy lifestyle choices if you truly have reason to be concerned. Your friend’s weight, though, is not necessarily a reason for you to be concerned. Save your concern over legitimate worries, which I should hope does not include how your friend looks.
