coldcomfort-:

Honestly, I don’t see how this is so horrible. I know that it seems a little off that people are saying “normal-sized” but what if there’s complications to someone’s weight problem, and they need a little boost? At least it’s not teaching them to develop eating disorders. It’s through hard work and exercise. Either way, everyone should do that. Eating healthy and exercising are wonderful ways to boost one’s self-image. I hate it when people distort something to make it offensive.

If this book advocated healthy diet and exercise for the sake of healthy diet and exercise, that would be one thing. However, this book advocates healthy diet and exercise for the sake of looking good. These are two distinctly different things. One of these is interested in health. One of these is interested in appearance.

Yet again:

FACT: You can’t tell whether someone is healthy based on their weight or appearance.

And since fat doesn’t automatically equal unhealthy, and thin doesn’t automatically equal healthy, why is Maggie’s weight an issue?
