One class I did learn somethings from was at the community college here in the city… My professor was a younger black man.. Who liked to demonstrate the dynamics during the era of slavery in this country…

One story was of a black slave who worked in the house of her white masters.. The story talked about how beautiful she was and how she had “flowing long hair”.. And how the white male master thought she was beautiful.. It talked about how the white woman master saw this.. And took the female slave and cut all of her hair off to ensure that her husband, let alone anyone else, would look at her and see beauty..

So white woman weren’t just a prop during this era.. They were an active part of slavery and the degradation of black folks.. And especially black women..

Damn I wish I could find this story…

Let me look through my shit..

*searches*

The Tignon laws & the laws curtailing the dress of free women of color in Louisiana are prime examples of this thought process.
