What I like about Tumblr is that for the most part is apolitical. but if I see a post on how much better Obama is and that the economy is getting better I want to both cry and scream in frustration. 18 months of unemployment and having to be underemployed just to make the most basic bills (10 years of work experience worth nothing) and your “fact checking” . Fact check this - He couldn’t get a budget in three years - what in your world makes you believe that another 4 years will change this fact?

I don’t care if Satan himself was running - I have to go with someone new because it can’t be as bad as the current president. I can’t afford another 4 years of hope and change and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m desperate for a change. God I need a job. Really really need a job. You would think that having a degree in infectious diseases would be useful but yeah no. maybe I should just wait for the next outbreak that’s sure to have a run on jobs.

You want a fact check?

1) Obama can’t pass a budget by himself. We depend on Congress to do things like pass legislation. Unfortunately, we’ve got one of the most unproductive Congresses on record. Republicans have moved further to the right, They’ll vote against their own legislation (more than once) and rail against their own ideas if it means ensuring Obama is a one-term president. The only thing Republicans in Congress have shown any talent for in the last 4 years is filibustering. Because if you can’t get the numbers to actually defeat legislation, filibuster, because a simple majority isn’t enough to overcome a filibuster. (Like so.)

Congress hasn’t gotten anything done in the last 2 years, and Congressional Republicans were working awfully hard to ensure nothing was done the 2 years prior to that when there was a Democratic majority in both the Senate and the House. Go ahead and vote for a Republican president if it makes you feel better. Maybe Congressional Republicans will stop acting like overgrown children if they get their way. I have no interest in caving to Republicans’ effective hijacking of Congress in the hopes they might start acting sensibly if we vote them into power.

2) The lack of a federal budget isn’t why you can’t get a job in the public sector. You can’t get a job in the public sector because 750,000 public sector jobs have been shed in the last 4 years, largely thanks to Republicans. And Republican leadership is pushing for more.

  • Chris Christie, the Republican governor of NJ who spoke at the RNC, stated that reducing the public sector was moving in “the right direction.”
  • Paul Ryan’s budget would have cost some 200,000 public sector jobs.
  • Mitt Romney has said, “Obama wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”
  • Romney also said, “That stimulus [Obama] put in place, it didn’t help private sector jobs, it helped preserve government jobs, and the one place we should have cut back was on government jobs. We have a 145,000 more government workers under this president. Let’s send them home and put you back to work!”

And you actually think the Republican ticket is going to help you get a job in public health? Voting for Romney because you dislike Obama is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If what you’re really upset about is lack of a federal budget and lack of public sector work, voting for Republicans is actually voting for the people who caused your problem and who have only promised more of the same.
