There are no in-betweens and don’t even think about hitting up most ~designer (Chanel etc) counters.
once this woman at perscreptives was like we have to do a special order for you because you’re skin color is so exotic
i mean i was like 16 at the time but i was legit like what???????????
i have to go to MAC when i need new foundation. shit is expensive, but i can never get the right shade at drugstores sooooo….
lmfao fuck expensive makeup. i go straight to the ghetto beauty supply store and buy everything i need for less than 20 dollars
I disagree with this picture. I understand what it’s trying to say, but TrueMatch foundation is available at almost any drugstore, it’s not that expensive, and it has at least like 12 darker shades. It’s not perfect, but it’s certainly not just one color.
LOL k. Even if a pharmacy brand (Revlon, Cover Girl, Maybelline, etc) does have more than one or two darker shades, there is a problem of availability. My white friends have the luxury of going to one (or, maybe, two) pharmacies and have a 90% chance to find something that is suitable for their skintone. Then, for me, the chances are significantly less. I mean, the idea that I could find a proper shade is laughable because every Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens just does not stock for black ass. If they do a shades darker than beige, they just don’t get frequently restocked like the white shades so I have to drive fifty miles to another neighborhood for slim chances.
But, really, why should I have to limit myself to solely pharmacy brands for the off-chance they actually sell my shade? I should also be able to go to a Chanel or Dior counter and pick up a shade for me. Unsurprisingly, there are people of color interested in high end makeup. So to say there is not a problem with the makeup industry and race is seriously naive. And I haven’t even touched the fact that the industry is often quick to discontinue more women of color friendly shades.
