Fellow geeky ladies: There is a scourge at our cons. Perhaps you’ve noticed them: FAKERS. They probably don’t even know the difference between comic book Bane, Dark Knight Rises Bane, and Batman & Robin Bane. They’re scantily clad cosplayers who are just there to show off their bodies, as if anything but the pure pursuit of high-level esoteric nerdery was acceptable at a global entertainment convention with tens of thousands of attendees. They are Fake Gamer Guys, and they are real. How do we fight the tide of hot men acting out their favorite movie characters DESPITE lacking a Ph.D. in geekonomics or post-war comparative graphic novel studies? Should we be fighting them at all?
