Chicago Pays $4.5 Million to Family of Deceased Young Woman, City Has Yet to Apologize:
ABC News is now reporting that the family of a young woman who was killed by the Chicago Police Department has received a settlement from the city. The Chicago City Council this week approved a $4.5 million dollar settlement to the family of 22-year old Rekia Boyd, who was standing nearby when a police officer shot his gun and killed her. Oddly, the officer is still with the police force, which has the family upset. Off-duty detective Dante Servin fired five shots over his shoulder toward a man who’d exchanged words with him. Antonio Cross, the man arguing with Servin, was on his phone and was shot in the thumb. Rekia was shot as she tried to escape the scene. “We didn’t even get a d**n I’m sorry yet. We’re still waiting,” said Boyd’s brother, Martinez Sutton.
