Watch Joel Stein Live Like a Millennial For a Day | TIME.com

So in an attempt to find an online version of this Millennials article (http://crystalzelda.tumblr.com/post/50052883501/ameliaelizabeth-times-new-cover-makes-me-so) that’s picking up a lot of shit, I instead found a video of the author, Joel Stein, “living like a Millennial”.

What does this mean for Stein? Why only tasks revolving around the use of technology and social media of course. Stein’s goals for the day range from “check your phone as soon as you wake up” to “update your Facebook status at least 5 times” to “use at least two digital devices at once” (which any business person of today must do so I’m not even sure why that’s relevant).

If Stein were willing to put any real effort into this “challenge”, instead of riding on the shallow cliches of how our generation is portrayed, he might have examined what its like to pay for rent and food while attending college and/or working a minimum wage job. Or he could have explored the crushing anxiety of entering a failed economy with burdening debt and the pressure to take up a non-paying internship to really break into the industry. Or the percentage of depression and anxiety disorders among us. The suicide rates of trans*/ queer youth.

No, instead Stein takes selfies and carries on the idea that we’re all ungrateful leeches. What a fucking disappointment.

I unlinked the video because I don’t want to drive traffic to this shit show, but basically, they aren’t taking this seriously. This is a hit piece that they’re hoping drives a boat load of traffic to their site so they can make more money.

Boomers and Xers don’t care that we have record student loan debt, high unemployment, low wages, and zero job security. All they want is to make money off screwing us, just like they always have. We should take the opportunity to highlight the problems our generation faces, and avoid directing traffic to Time like the plague.
