Israeli Soldiers Continue To Use Children As Human Shields
Sabri (14) was forced to walk in front of Israeli soldiers while stones were being hurled at them, during protests on the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day: “They were hiding behind me so I could cover them from the stones. They were shouting and saying in Hebrew ‘Throw! Throw!’ to the young men who were throwing stones.” According to an article published by Maan News Agency, the Israeli army said it would investigate the allegations.
This is disgusting. Oh my God.
Prove this to me. Send me the links where this came from (and they need to be neutral links, not pro/against either side) because this picture can be taken a couple of different ways. A caption under a photo doesn’t necessarily portray what’s really happening. I also find it unusual that the Palestinian boy claims to be understanding Hebrew.
No, I’m not taking sides, but I also have been seeing a lot of anti-Israeli stuff posted on Tumblr and I know DAMNED WELL that there are atrocities on BOTH sides. And this was reblogged from a completely pro-Palestine Tumblr.
The story about Sabri, the boy mentioned above, has been profiled by Defense for Children International. According to the original article published by Ma’an news, a Palestinian news agency, the incident is being investigated. I haven’t been able to find any independent verification of this story.
While you can question whether the story above is real or not, last fall, there was a high profile court case in Israel regarding two soldiers using a 9-year-old Palestinian boy as a human shield. The soldiers were convicted. So it does happen.
Pointing out these incidences hardly relieves Palestinians who engage in violence of responsibility for their actions. The point is simply that the Israeli government is hardly innocent.
