I suppose the larger question, missed by the mainstream media, is why Jesus (or, for that matter, God and other major Biblical figures) are almost always depicted in the U.S. as white.
Jesus is white (with perfectly coiffed hair.) Satan is in blackface. John the Baptist is a white guy with dreadlocks. David is white, and Goliath is white but with his skin darkened. Most of the main characters are white. What else did anyone expect?
