I thought this experience I had recently might interest you guys! I think it’s an exercise a lot of artists could benefit from.
CC: Thank you so fucking much for submitting this. Seriously.
Yes at that bottom line. When will white people learn they are the global minority in the realist sense of the world and the world don’t revolve around them. This exercise is super interesting as well cause I’m not an artist but wow, mentally what that takes is so interesting.
THIS IS REALLY FUCKING RELEVANT to a few months ago when i called out the fashion design tag for only drawing white people, and everyone’s bullshit excuse was “but we don’t color in the skin” but NO. NO. you can make a fucking line drawing look like a person of color. we white people think our facial characteristics are default and that people of color are just darker versions of us. FUCK THAT SHIT.
well i would argue about this “entirely different facial structure” because thanks to colonization, many people are mixed and have dubious facial structures (which is how we get the “mixed”/”biracial” look; it’s generally used to describe a darker skinned person with “white” features) and there are a lot of people who do not really know what indicators even dubious facial structures give off that show PoC heritage, but otherwise, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.
