idk apologies if this is rambling but this is on my mind now since Damn Lay Off the Bleach was discussing it today, putting this under a cut because it will be long.
1.) The swipe you take at Christianity is lame, and takes away from your main point. I understand much of the world likes to try to place slavery solely onto the evil white man, but the actual truth is that there would have been none to buy if not for the Muslim, Arabic slavers that did the capturing. Additionally, you might want to research Arabism a bit.
2.) Drow got dark skin originally due to a mistranslation concerning the Norse Svartzalfar. It was thought the song referred to skin tone when it actually referred to hair color.
3.) It’s friggin cosplay that you have worked and worked into a way to construct racial outrage. It frikkin seven degrees to Drizzt DoUrden racism….you have to really look for it. I think you might simply just have some problems with white folk in general that you need to do some soul searching over.
God forbid a white person feel uncomfortable with something they like or even participate in. Rather than going, “Oh, great point, never knew about that before, but now that I know, that’s fucked up,” you say, “I heard what you said, but I’m going to deflect and talk about Arabs and translations and completely ignore what you said in order to mitigate my own discomfort with the idea I might be doing something wrong, even if it continues to make other people feel alienated and as if they are less human than I am and materially impacts their ability to enjoy the things I enjoy, because my right to be comfortable participating in some racist fuckery is more important than what the people who are offended by my behavior think and feel.”
You really don’t have to look that hard for this shit. It’s pretty surface level, obvious racism, and considering that you’ve basically ignored the entire D&D history of the drow in order to make your point, the only person who’s had to work and work in order to justify their opinion is you.
