Idris Elba as James Bond would be completely awesome.
It’s worth reading the comments on this one; they range from supportive—”Idris Elba is great!”—to, “I’m not a racist, but James Bond shouldn’t be black.” For example:
Yes I am aware that the Bond stories gave evolved past the WWII Era, but that is where my mind and likely millions others are set. It is nothing but awkward and out of place to see a black Bond, not because of racism, but because he has only ever been conceived to be white.
Sure, most who see his face end up dead by some crazy means, and Bond may very well be an expendable name as is his 007 identity. But again, in my mind and likely millions of others, when I think of a British 007 I think of a stereotypical British accent which happens to accompany a white man.
