“I think the war on women is real. And, look, I tell you where it’s going to intensify: the next president of the United States is going to get to name one and possibly two or more members of the Supreme Court.”

I just looked this up: four of the current Supreme Court justices are over the age of 74: Breyer, Ginsburg, Kennedy, and Scalia (Ginsburg is 79!). Notice that three of them are the more liberal and centrist justices.

Whoever is elected president this November will likely appoint at least one new justice (possibly more). I feel safe in predicting that Obama’s picks will definitely be more liberal (and perhaps diverse) than Romney’s. Progressives should keep this in mind when they go to vote next month.

^^^^THIS. People who consider themselves “disillusioned” with Obama because he didn’t wave a magic wand and fix everything in less than four years need to SUCK IT UP and fucking vote for him anyway. A second term Obama has the chance to secure a progressive Supreme Court for a generation.

As would a Romney administration certainly do the exact opposite… and a Romney court should put you in the mind of some Handmaid’s Tale-level dystopian shit.

Supreme Court nominations may be the single most important issue to consider when casting your vote this election. If you’re angry because Obama hasn’t moved fast enough on X issue, or isn’t as far left as you want him to be, get the fuck over it. A majority conservative Supreme Court will fuck our lives and our country up for decades. Not voting or voting third party contributes to that Court.
