What [Valenti’s] saying is correct, but only when applied to wealthier women. Being a parent isn’t *the* hardest job when you make $200,000 a year and your children will always have food, a home, a college education, and vacations to Disney World every year. But, obviously hardly anyone actually has the privilege of being able to parent in this situation. Parenthood is a hell of a lot harder when you have to worry if you’ll be able to pay your child’s medical bills, if you’ll have a steady place of residence, if you can assume relative safety for your child or not, etc. I understand the point she’s trying to make but she should have mentioned that she was only talking about a certain group of mothers. Of course, she wouldn’t ever actually do this because then she would be admitting that feminism focuses on rich, straight, white women as a default.
