this ‘save the pearls’ shit, while supposedly ‘turning the tables on racism,’ reads exactly like paranoid racist white supremacist literature about how we have to be careful or else people of color will overtake the white race and exterminate them through brutality or miscegenation. shit goes waaaay back to the fucking slave codes, and you think you’re being some white angel of equality and brotherhood?
edit: also, this whole “passing” thing she’s doing implies that people of color are too stupid to tell the difference between a black person and someone in blackface.
I kept thinking of the scene in Birth of a Nation where black people have taken over Congress… Does the KKK ride in to save the day and all the delicate white ladies in this, too?
